Let’s start off Spring right with these three new featured Indie Junction Artisans: The Norsk Woodshop, Little Alouette, and Dee’s Adornments!!
Let’s start with Patrick Sikes from The Norsk Woodshop featuring handcrafted wooden and acrylic pens which is his specialty along with other turned wooden items including bowls, vases, boxes, hollow forms, and carvings. In the artists own words: “I am a wood turner and penmaker. I work out of my studio in St Petersburg FL creating handcrafted pens from exotic wood and colorful acrylics. I grew up around woodworking with my father and grandfather perpetually building some piece of furniture. Pens make perfect for graduation gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, Father’s Day gifts, birthday gifts, and impromptu gifts for friends and family.”

Our next Indie Junction featured artisan works with wood in an entirely different way! Amy Sharp owner of Little Alouette makes Eco Friendly WEE Handmade Wood Toys, Rattles, Blocks, Games, & Natural TEETHERS. Infused with love & bliss…Here in the artist’s own words is the wonderful story of how Little Alouette began: “Over a decade ago a handsome British boy and an Ohio lass met and fell madly in love at first site in a sleepy university town. The boy was a classically trained master carpenter and the girl a writer with a bit of wanderlust. They worked together creatively through the years on many projects involving woodworking as they restored and remodeled homes together. The boy taught his love about trees on their land in the country and how to use power tools and the girl read poems to him while they worked. They started a journey of following their bliss and eventually brought two wee ones into the world and began creating wooden toys for them. They decided to share these wee wooden toys with the world and Little Alouette, LLC was born over hot steaming mugs of cocoa in the winter of 2007.”

Our third Indie Junction Featured artisan is Dee-Ann LeBlanc from Dee’s Adornments! Her shop features beautiful and unique handcrafted jewelry! In the artist’s own words: “It only took one jewelry-making course and I was hooked. After taking more, I kept wanting to experiment and play and learn more techniques. I love the creative moment of designing a piece, the zen-like moment of assembling it (punctuated with the occasional curse), and the total satisfaction of the finished result. Especially when I’m experimenting with a new technique and finally nail it! I enjoy playing with color, shape, light, and texture, and while I don’t mind making duplicates and variations on a theme (and sometimes it’s a just what the doctor ordered zen exercise) I often feel driven to try something new. Since I’m not an old-timer at this craft, I’m also still learning and refining what will become my style. So expect a lot of variety in my shop.”
